Flixers Privacy Policy

Flixers uses the minimum data needed to let you sign in, create or join rooms, and keep playback and chat in sync with friends. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not run ads or third-party trackers.

Data We Collect

• Google profile for sign-in: name, email, and profile picture.
• Room metadata you provide: room ID and display name.
• Room activity relayed through our backend: chat messages and playback sync signals.

We do not sell or share data for advertising or marketing. No additional trackers or ad SDKs are used.

How We Use Data

• Authenticate you with Google OAuth and keep your session active.
• Let you create and join rooms with a display name.
• Sync playback state for the Netflix tab in your room.
• Deliver in-room chat messages to the participants.

Storage & Retention

• Session token and last room are stored locally in chrome.storage to keep you signed in and rejoin your last room.
• No cross-site tracking or persistent identifiers beyond Flixers.
• Room messages and sync events are relayed via our backend for delivery and coordination; they are not retained for advertising.

Permissions We Request

• identity: to sign you in with Google OAuth.
• storage: to keep your session token and last room locally.
• *://*.netflix.com/*: to sync playback controls and state in the Netflix tab you are watching with your room.
• WebSocket to our backend: to send/receive chat and playback sync signals.

Security

• APIs and WebSocket connections use HTTPS/WSS.
• No remote code execution is performed; the extension only coordinates playback and chat.
• You can sign out, disconnect from rooms, and clear your browser storage at any time.

Your Choices

• Disconnect from a room or sign out to stop sharing room activity.
• Clear your browser storage to remove the session token and last room.
• Contact us to request removal of your information.
